Nepal - Kharbang village

"

Kharbang in Baglung District is one of the poorest and most remote village in Nepal targeted by the Rural Energy Development Programme (REDP). The programme, implemented from 1996 to 2011, focused on the development of community managed micro hydro systems to improve electricity access for household lighting and appliances, with a secondary focus on productive uses. This photo reportage - produced in January 2018 and published in the 2018 edition of the Poor People’s Energy Outlook (PPEO) - provides a visual representation of nuanced expressions of the community lived experiences and allows a better understanding of the human component of the programme.
