Kame, in the Plateaux region towards the south of Togo, is home to around 6,900 people. All the villagers are from the same ethnic background (Oyo – originally from Nigeria). People cultivate maize, rice, and sorghum.
Assoukoko village of 680 households is in a mountainous area at the boundary between dry savannah to the north and forests to the south, close to the border with Ghana. The land is fertile and people cultivate cocoa, coffee, manioc, yams, maize, and other cereals.
